Former President Donald Trump delivered a lengthy speech at the Republican National Convention in which he made several false claims on a variety of topics. Trump alleged that Democrats want to destroy Social Security and Medicare, but both he and Joe Biden have at times expressed conflicting views on these programs. Trump also claimed that he had built most of the border wall, which is not entirely accurate as only a fraction of the promised wall was constructed. He also falsely stated that he stopped North Korean missile launches, while they continued during his presidency.
Furthermore, Trump inaccurately claimed that he was the first president to start no new wars, even though conflict occurred during his time in office. Additionally, he misleadingly stated that crime rates were rising in the U.S., when in fact they have been declining. Trump also falsely accused Democrats of using Covid to cheat in the 2020 election, and exaggerated the increase in grocery prices under the Biden administration. He also falsely claimed that the tax cut he signed into law was the largest in history, which is not supported by data. Lastly, Trump erroneously stated that immigration spreads disease when research shows that migrants actually contribute to healthcare. In summary, Trump’s speech at the RNC was filled with inaccuracies and false claims on a variety of topics.
