West Virginia has been surprising everyone with their performance on the field, nearly doubling their projected win total for the season. Many outlets are now predicting where the Mountaineers will go bowling this winter, with various matchups being suggested. The Action Network projects West Virginia playing in the Armed Forces Bowl against Air Force, while Athlon sees them in the Liberty Bowl facing off against Auburn. College Football News also predicts the Armed Forces Bowl, but against UTSA, and Sporting News suggests the Guaranteed Rate Bowl against Rutgers.
On SI’s West Virginia Mountaineers page, they predict that the Big 12 conference will have two teams in the College Football Playoff, with West Virginia landing in the Texas Bowl against Missouri. This is a far cry from last year when no one expected the Mountaineers to reach a bowl game. With their strong performance this season, there is much anticipation leading up to the winter bowl games. Stay tuned for more updates on where West Virginia will end up this postseason.
