Source claims that the individual who attempted to assassinate Trump had flown a drone over the venue hours before the incident.

Gunman Thomas Crooks flew a drone over a Pennsylvania rally site before shooting former President Donald Trump in the ear at a Trump rally in Butler. The Wall Street Journal reported the use of the drone, which may have helped Crooks plan his attack by providing an overhead view of the area. The Secret Service typically bans drones over secured areas, but it is unclear if this happened at the Butler rally. Investigators recovered a drone and related equipment from Crooks’ vehicle, and are still determining a motive for the attempted assassination. The Department of Homeland Security Office of the Inspector General and House Speaker Mike Johnson have launched investigations into the Secret Service’s handling of the event security. Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle is expected to testify before the House Oversight Committee. Michael Kosnar, Ken Dilanian and other journalists have contributed to reporting on the incident.
