A federal grand jury in Memphis, Tennessee is set to begin hearing evidence this month in a scam to steal the Graceland estate from Elvis Presley’s family. Sources say that individuals have been subpoenaed to testify before the grand jury, but the details of the criminal investigation are not public. Lisa Holden, a woman in Branson, Missouri, appears to have connections to fake personas and phone numbers associated with the scheme. The target of the federal investigation is unclear, with the FBI and the U.S. attorney for the Western District of Tennessee not responding to requests for comment.
The scam involved a company called Naussany Investments, who claimed that Lisa Marie Presley owed millions of dollars in unpaid loans before she died. They sought to control Graceland through a foreclosure sale, but the documents they filed turned out to be forged. After the case was thrown out by a judge, a person claiming to represent the scammers wrote to media outlets admitting they were Nigerian identity thieves, although further investigation found connections to a small town in Missouri and Lisa Holden.
Despite evidence linking Holden to the foiled scam at Graceland, she denied knowing anyone named Naussany or being involved in the scheme when interviewed by NBC News in June. The investigation into the attempt to steal the Graceland estate from Elvis Presley’s family is ongoing, with the potential involvement of multiple individuals and the use of fake personas and forged documents being key elements of the case.
