Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris raised an impressive $310 million in July as her campaign gains momentum, with much of the donations coming after President Joe Biden dropped out of the race. The campaign saw a surge in small donations, with two-thirds of the total amount being contributed by first-time donors. This figure is more than double the $138.7 million raised by Republican nominee Donald Trump in the same month.
As the race for the White House heats up, Trump launched attacks against Harris, including questioning her racial identity, which critics condemned as “repulsive”. Recent opinion polls suggest a tight race between the two candidates, with swing states expected to play a pivotal role in the outcome of the November election.
Harris is expected to announce her vice-presidential running mate soon, with names such as Andy Beshear, Tim Walz, and Josh Shapiro being rumored. Meanwhile, the DNC has launched an advertising campaign taunting Trump for not committing to a debate with Harris, questioning his stance on abortion.
Trump, who made history as the first former president to be convicted of a crime, has been touting his achievements in office, including appointing three conservative justices to the Supreme Court. The DNC’s ads will follow Trump to his campaign stops, continuing to pressure him to engage in a debate with Harris, potentially on Fox News. Despite Trump’s willingness to debate, the Democrats are challenging him on his past statements and actions.
