Justin Timberlake appeared virtually at a hearing for his driving while intoxicated case, wearing a black collared shirt for his appearance from Antwerp, Belgium. The judge admonished his attorney, Edward Burke Jr., for “irresponsible” comments made in the last hearing and threatened a gag order if the behavior continued. Timberlake’s driver’s license was suspended because he refused a breathalyzer test when pulled over on June 18. Burke Jr. plans to file motions and vigorously defend Timberlake against the allegations. Police reported that Timberlake had bloodshot eyes, slurred speech, unsteady feet, and performed poorly on sobriety tests. Timberlake claimed to have only had one martini before being pulled over, but also refused a chemical test. A refusal can be used as evidence of guilt in court.
The next conference for Timberlake’s case is set for August 9, which he is not required to attend. Another hearing is scheduled for September 13, depending on the proceedings in August. Timberlake’s attorney maintained his innocence and plans to defend him zealously. The case is ongoing, and updates will be provided as they become available.
