A protester who disrupted former President Donald Trump’s rally in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, will face misdemeanor charges, including disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and disrupting a meeting or procession. The protester, whose identity has not yet been revealed, jumped over a barricade, hopped onto a press riser, and yelled at Trump during the rally. Trump indicated from the stage that the protester was on his side.
The incident occurred after Trump criticized journalists, a common occurrence at his rallies where he often undermines media credibility. Supporters typically boo reporters when Trump attacks the press. The protester was handcuffed, removed from the rally by security, processed, and released without any injuries to bystanders, media, or law enforcement.
It is unclear what the protester’s motives were or his views on Trump. The charges have not yet been filed but are expected to be done so early next week. The district attorney confirmed that there were no further incidents reported at the event. NBC News has reached out to the Trump campaign for comment on the matter.
