Roger O’Donnell, keyboardist of ‘The Cure,’ shares lymphoma diagnosis

Roger O’Donnell, the keyboardist for “The Cure,” revealed his diagnosis of a rare and aggressive form of lymphoma in a series of posts on X Sunday in honor of Blood Cancer Awareness Month. The lymphoma diagnosis came after ignoring symptoms for a few months, but after surgery, the biopsy results were devastating. Lymphoma is a type of blood cancer that affects the lymphatic system and can present symptoms such as fever, fatigue, swollen lymph nodes, weight loss, and itchy skin. O’Donnell underwent 11 months of treatment including immunotherapy, medication, and radiotherapy, with a positive prognosis now. He emphasized the importance of getting tested for cancer as early detection improves the chances of beating the disease. The keyboardist encouraged fans to reach out and support anyone they know who is sick, as every word helps. O’Donnell joined “The Cure” in 1987 and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with the band in 2019. He performed with the band on their North American tour in 2022 but had to pull out of the Latin American tour in November 2023 due to health reasons.
