Jorge Ramos, a prominent Latino journalist in America, announces departure from Univision

Univision anchor Jorge Ramos, a prominent figure in Spanish-language journalism, is leaving the network after nearly 40 years. The decision to not renew his contract was mutual, and Ramos will continue anchoring “Noticiero Univision” until December. He has co-anchored the program since 1986 and also hosts other Univision and Fusion TV shows. Ramos is known for his challenging interviews with politicians and has moderated presidential debates, earning 10 Emmy Awards. He has been a vocal critic of former President Trump, which led to a clash in 2015 when Trump had him removed from a news conference. Ramos’ daughter, Paola Ramos, is a contributor at MSNBC, a network under the same parent company as NBC News. Ramos’ departure marks the end of an era in Spanish-language journalism and leaves a void that will be felt by many in the Hispanic community.
