Harvey Weinstein, the disgraced movie mogul whose rape conviction was overturned in April, underwent heart surgery after being moved from a New York City jail to a hospital. He remains in recovery at Bellevue Hospital’s intensive care unit, where he underwent a procedure to alleviate fluid from his lungs and heart. Weinstein has been dealing with various health issues, including diabetes, high blood pressure, and fluid on his heart and lungs. He tested positive for Covid-19 and double pneumonia in July, and his recent hospitalization was due to not feeling well and significant weight gain from medication. Weinstein’s previous convictions in New York and Los Angeles for sex offenses were overturned, but a grand jury in New York is considering new charges against him. Despite more than 80 accusations of sexual assault or harassment, Weinstein maintains that any encounters were consensual.
