Princess Kate made her first public appearance since completing chemotherapy and announced she would be returning to some public duties. She attended a Sunday service at Crathie Kirk church in Scotland with Prince William. Kate had released a video message earlier in September stating she had completed treatment for cancer detected after abdominal surgery. She looked like her old self at the church service, but her attendance does not mean a packed schedule of events. Kate’s first engagement post-treatment was an Early Years meeting at Windsor Castle, supporting community groups. Kate had already appeared at events like Trooping the Colour and Wimbledon while undergoing treatment. King Charles III, who is also receiving cancer treatment, has returned to public duties as well. The royal family has faced a shortage of senior members for official engagements following the death of Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Harry and Meghan’s departure to California, and Prince Andrew’s step back from front-line duties.
