Trump has faced alleged assassination attempts and threats from Iran, leading the campaign to use evasive maneuvers and be less predictable in movements. The campaign has also requested the use of planes that detect and deter threats, but these requests have not been met. The Secret Service has stated that Trump is receiving the highest levels of protection, including enhanced communications capabilities and advanced technology systems. The Department of Defense provides support for Trump’s protection, including explosive ordnance disposal and airlift transportation. The Pentagon and Secret Service are concerned that providing more assets could violate federal law restricting the military for domestic purposes. In August, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin approved increased support for candidates in locations around the country, including explosive experts and technicians to detect and protect against threats.
