West Virginia University’s football team is taking a break this weekend after a tough four-game stretch that included wins at Oklahoma State and Arizona and losses to Iowa State and Kansas State. The team is currently 4-4 overall and 3-2 in the Big 12, tied for fifth place with three other teams. BYU leads the league standings, followed by Iowa State, Kansas State, and Colorado.
Coach Neal Brown emphasizes the importance of the upcoming games in November, stating that they will make or break the season. The team is coming off a 31-26 road win against Arizona and is looking to rest and recover during the break.
Brown plans to have two different approaches for the players during the break. Regular players will focus on resting and recovering, while younger players will participate in scrimmage work to identify potential contributors for the remainder of the season.
Looking ahead, the team is preparing for signing day in December and is focused on solidifying commitments and potentially adding a few more pieces to the roster.
Upcoming games include a matchup against Cincinnati on Nov. 9, with kickoff at noon and televised nationally on FS1. The team’s final two home games will be against Baylor and UCF, with tickets still available for purchase through the Mountaineer Ticket Office. The regular season concludes with a road game against Texas Tech on Nov. 30.
