West Virginia’s football team suffered a blow when wide receiver Traylon Ray was injured and ruled out for the remainder of the season. The sophomore had been a key player for the Mountaineers, leading the team in receptions and yards before the injury. Head coach Neal Brown confirmed that Ray would not be able to return this year, leaving a significant gap in the team’s offense.
The injury was not only a physical setback but also an emotional one for the team, as players struggled to overcome the loss of one of their key contributors. Quarterback Garrett Greene mentioned that the team had to quickly regroup and refocus after Ray’s injury during the game against Baylor.
With only two games left in the regular season, West Virginia will need other receivers to step up in Ray’s absence. Transfer wide receiver Justin Robinson and potentially Jaden Bray, who is returning from injury, will be called upon to fill the void left by Ray. Brown emphasized the importance of other players, particularly Hudson Clement, stepping up in the wake of Ray’s absence.
Despite the setback, the Mountaineers are determined to push forward and finish the season strong. The team is focused on making the necessary adjustments to compensate for Ray’s absence and continue to compete at a high level.
