75 new manufacturing jobs to be brought to the city from Shark Tank and Fairmont

New York City-based company, Prime 6, has announced plans to build a $35 million manufacturing facility in Fairmont, West Virginia, creating 75 new jobs with an annual salary of $60,000. The company, known for producing eco-friendly and sustainable solid fuels, selected the site where the Phillips Lighting Co. once stood for their new facility. The West Virginia Economic Development Authority approved up to $70 million in state financial incentives to support Prime 6. Investor Kevin O’Leary praised the company’s commitment to growing and diversifying the state’s business.

To celebrate the groundbreaking, a ceremony will take place on Friday at 24 Philips Lane followed by a Town Hall event at the Marion County National Guard Armory. Prime 6 co-founder and COO, Oron Franco, along with O’Leary and other officials, will discuss the company’s mission, provide networking opportunities, and allow community members to apply for positions at the new facility.

City Manager Travis L. Blosser expressed excitement over the new opportunities Prime 6 will bring to Fairmont. Governor Jim Justice also applauded O’Leary for investing in West Virginia. Justice revealed that Prime 6 originally considered a site in Upshur County but encountered undisclosed environmental issues. Despite this setback, the company remained committed to West Virginia and ultimately chose Marion County as the location for their facility.

Local officials, including District 76 Del. Joey Garcia, praised the news as a significant step towards revitalizing manufacturing jobs in the area. Prime 6’s investment in Fairmont represents a positive development for the community and the state as a whole.
