West Virginia is gearing up for a final home game showdown against University of Central Florida (UCF) this Saturday at Milan Puskar Stadium. Despite coming off a loss to Baylor last weekend, the Mountaineers are focused on finding consistency in all three phases of the game. Coach Neal Brown is pushing for a complete game where special teams, defense, and offense all perform well.
Both teams have struggled with inconsistency throughout the season, resulting in similar 5-5 records. UCF, under coach Gus Malzahn, is looking to become bowl eligible by winning their final two games against West Virginia and Utah. The Knights are led by senior running back R.J. Harvey, who ranks third nationally with 1,328 rushing yards.
UCF’s strong running game presents a challenge for West Virginia, whose pass defense has been struggling, ranking near the bottom in several categories. However, the Mountaineers have a balanced rushing attack led by Garrett Greene and Jahiem White, as well as a solid defense led by senior linebacker Ethan Barr.
With both teams looking to capitalize on weaknesses in their opponents, the game promises to be an exciting matchup. West Virginia seniors will be honored before the game in a True Blue event, encouraging fans to wear blue in support. The game will be broadcast on ESPNU and the Mountaineer Sports Network, with kickoff set for 3:30 p.m.
Tickets are still available for the game and can be purchased through the Mountaineer Ticket Office website. The Mountaineers are hoping to end their home schedule on a high note and send their seniors off with a win.
