The army conducted intelligence-based strikes on Hezbollah targets in Dahiyeh, a Hezbollah stronghold in Beirut’s southern suburbs, including command centers and weapons storage facilities. Prior warnings were issued to civilians in the area. In Gaza, strikes continued with at least six people killed, including children and women. The death toll in the fighting between Israel and Hamas in Gaza has surpassed 44,000, with more than half of the fatalities being women and children. The Israeli military claims to have killed over 17,000 militants. The war began when Hamas-led militants attacked southern Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, killing civilians and abducting hostages. Most hostages were released during a cease-fire last year. The Israeli offensive in Gaza has caused widespread destruction, displacing 90% of the population and leaving many living in squalid conditions in tent camps. The future of rebuilding Gaza remains uncertain, with hundreds of thousands in need of basic services.
