A man in New Mexico was awarded over $412 million in a medical malpractice case against a men’s health clinic that operates in multiple states. The lawsuit alleged that the clinic misdiagnosed the man, unnecessarily treated him with dangerous penile injections, and engaged in fraudulent practices to exploit older patients. The man’s lawyers celebrated the verdict, hoping it would prevent others from being victimized in a similar manner.
The trial, held in Albuquerque, revealed that the clinic, NuMale Medical Center, and its officials were named as defendants in the case. The man, seeking treatment for fatigue and weight loss, was allegedly subjected to invasive treatments that caused irreversible damage. The plaintiff’s attorneys argued that the clinic had set up a scheme to profit off unsuspecting patients, deceiving them into unnecessary treatments with false claims of irreversible damage if injections were not administered.
In light of the verdict, NuMale Medical Center’s President, Brad Palubicki, stated that the company remains focused on providing responsible patient care while adhering to safety and compliance standards at all facilities. He refrained from commenting on specific details of the case due to ongoing legal proceedings.
The jury found in favor of the plaintiff, determining that the defendants’ fraudulent and negligent conduct had caused damages. Additionally, they concluded that the defendants’ unconscionable behavior violated the Unfair Practices Act. The record-setting award signifies a significant victory for the plaintiff and sends a message against healthcare fraud and malpractice.
