Nigel Farage announced that former Conservative MP Andrea Jenkyns has joined Reform UK – Follow updates on UK politics | Politics Live

Former Tory MP Andrea Jenkyns has made headlines by joining Nigel Farage’s Reform UK party. Farage announced this development at a press conference, stating that the party is now focused on the upcoming local elections and highlighting their rigorous candidate vetting process. Additionally, Farage revealed that Reform UK now has over 100,000 members, with Jenkyns being the 100,000th joiner and set to be the party’s candidate in the mayoral election for Lincolnshire.

Farage emphasized the support the party has garnered among younger generations, with his TikTok account boasting over 1 million followers, with a majority being under 35. Jenkyns, in her speech, expressed her belief in Reform UK’s potential to save the country and pledged to root out what she described as a “woke leftish agenda” present in government.

Farage also criticized the current migration policies, labeling them as “horrendous” and claiming they have made people poorer. He rejected claims of reductions in immigration, citing revised ONS figures, and dismissed recent admissions of mistakes from the Tory party. Reform UK’s chair, Zia Yusuf, highlighted the party’s organizational expansion, with 400 branches established across the country.

The announcement of Jenkyns’ defection from the Tories to join Reform UK marks a significant development in the political landscape, as Farage and the party continue to position themselves as a viable alternative to mainstream parties, with a strong emphasis on immigration reform and attracting younger voters.
