The No. 12-ranked West Virginia University women’s basketball team is heading to Estero, Florida to participate in the Gulf Coast Showcase. The team will face High Point on Friday, with potential matchups against Boise State, Illinois State, Butler, New Mexico State, Santa Clara, or No. 5 Texas over the weekend. All games will be broadcast live on the Mountaineer Sports Network, as well as on FloHoops.
Under head coach Mark Kellogg, the Mountaineers have an impressive 17-0 record in regular-season nonconference games. The team has won 19 straight regular-season nonconference matchups over three seasons. Leading the scoring for WVU are senior guard JJ Quinerly, junior guard Jordan Harrison, and junior guard Sydney Shaw. The Mountaineers have been dominant defensively, forcing turnovers and averaging 16.8 steals per game. Quinerly is looking to break into the top 10 in career points scored and the top five in steals for the team.
The team is currently averaging 89.3 points per game and has a +14.8-turnover margin. With a strong start to the season, the Mountaineers are poised for success at the Gulf Coast Showcase.
