Insiders in College Football reveal two top candidates for the next head coach of the West Virginia Mountaineers

West Virginia Mountaineers fire head coach Neal Brown following disappointing season

The West Virginia Mountaineers have decided to part ways with head coach Neal Brown after a lackluster 6-6 season that fell well short of preseason expectations. Rumors are already swirling about who will be the next coach to lead the football program.

Brown took over from Dana Holgorsen, who had a successful tenure at West Virginia before departing for Houston. However, Brown was unable to replicate that success, never winning more than six games in his four seasons with the Mountaineers.

Two names have emerged as top candidates for the coaching vacancy at West Virginia. Former Texas A&M coach Jimbo Fisher is reportedly interested in the job, despite still being owed a $75 million buyout from his previous contract. Rich Rodriguez, who previously coached the Mountaineers from 2001-2007, is also being considered for a return to the program.

While both Fisher and Rodriguez have their supporters, Rodriguez’s recent success at Jacksonville State might give him the edge in the coaching search. With the Mountaineers looking to elevate their program, the decision on who will lead them next is eagerly anticipated by fans and supporters alike.
