Israel’s defense minister, Israel Katz, has issued a warning that if the ceasefire in Lebanon collapses, Israel’s forces will not differentiate between Lebanon and Hezbollah. Since October 7, Lebanon has reported over 3,000 deaths and 13,000 injuries from Israeli attacks, recent airstrikes targeted Hezbollah infrastructure. Katz stressed the need for the Lebanese government to enforce the ceasefire and keep Hezbollah away. Israel’s military has ordered civilians to stay away from the southern villages of Lebanon due to the ongoing conflict with Hezbollah.
The situation in Syria has escalated, with insurgents launching attacks in Hama threatening government troops connecting Damascus with Aleppo. The army is engaging in violent confrontations with armed groups in Hama. The militants, led by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, have advanced towards the crucial road linking Aleppo with major cities.
In Gaza, the Hamas-led health authority reports 36 deaths and 96 injuries due to Israeli attacks in the last 24 hours, bringing the total since October 7 to over 44,000 deaths and 105,000 injuries. Israel has issued evacuation orders in Khan Younis. In a separate incident, Israeli security forces raided the Turkish hospital in Tubas arresting several individuals, including a doctor.
Israel’s military claims to have killed seven Hamas operatives in Gaza linked to the October 7 attack. Over 18 people have been detained in the West Bank. In Syria, there were reports of Israeli airstrikes near Damascus airport, while fighting between government forces and Kurdish SDF forces has displaced over 45,000 people. The foreign ministers of Iran, Turkey, and Russia are set to meet in Doha to discuss the crisis in Syria.
