West Virginia head coach Neal Brown was fired after a 9-4 season, losing four of his last seven games. Brown’s leadership style wasn’t seen as a good fit by some in the program. Rich Rodriguez, a former West Virginia coach with deep ties to the state, is a potential candidate. Other successful Group of 5 head coaches like UNLV’s Barry Odom and Army’s Jeff Monken are also being considered. Penn State offensive coordinator Andy Kotelnicki, who has had success against West Virginia in the past, is another candidate. Nittany Lions assistant Ja’Juan Seider, a former West Virginia quarterback, is also in the mix. Jimbo Fisher, who was recently fired from Texas A&M, is a potential wild card candidate with ties to West Virginia. The search for a new head coach is ongoing, and several qualified coaches are being considered to bring the program back to its former glory.
