The 2024-25 College Football Playoff matchups are heating up as the playoffs approach. While many are focused on the top 12-team playoff contenders, there is still excitement surrounding the rest of the bowl season. The latest projections have some intriguing matchups on the horizon.
In the Bad Boy Mowers Pinstripe Bowl, Syracuse will face off against Michigan, making it a chance for Syracuse quarterback Kyle McCord to go against the Wolverines once again. In the Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl, Miami will take on USC, providing a platform for players like Cam Ward and Jayden Maiava to showcase their skills.
Additionally, the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl will feature a showdown between Illinois and South Carolina, two nine-game winners in the regular season. While in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl, Clemson and Iowa will battle it out, with the question of whether coaches Dabo Swinney and Kirk Ferentz will accept the “Mayo Bath.”
As the penultimate set of College Football Playoff rankings approach, the anticipation for the first-round matchups on Dec. 20 and 21 continues to grow. The quarterfinals and semifinals will follow, leading up to the CFP national championship on Jan. 20 in Atlanta.
