West Virginia’s Final Opportunity with OL Marcellus Marshall

Morgantown native and UCF transfer offensive lineman Marcellus Marshall has announced his decision to enter the transfer portal and is now considering returning home to West Virginia to finish out his college career as a Mountaineer. The 6-foot-5, 310-pound lineman has been a key player for UCF over the past two seasons and is now looking for a new opportunity for his final year of eligibility.

In a statement, Marshall thanked UCF and Knight Nation for the memories, relationships, and opportunities he has been given. He also expressed his gratitude to the coaching staff and his teammates for making the program feel like family. Marshall’s recruitment is now open, and he is excited to see what the future holds for him.

A three-star recruit out of Morgantown High School in 2020, Marshall was ranked as the No. 5 player in West Virginia. He initially committed to Kent State before transferring to UCF in 2023. West Virginia had previously extended an offer to Marshall as a transfer in December 2022, and now with the possibility of a coaching change at WVU, the opportunity to bring Marshall back home is once again on the table.

Marshall’s decision to enter the transfer portal has generated interest among Mountaineer fans, who are hopeful that he may choose to return to Morgantown for his final year of college football. As Marshall explores his options, all eyes will be on West Virginia to see if they pursue the talented offensive lineman and bring him back to his roots.
