West Virginia University Football Experiences Pleasant Signing Day Surprises | Latest Updates on News, Sports, Careers

West Virginia University had a successful start to the early signing period for football recruits, securing all 19 strong commitments in the 2025 signing class and adding two key prospects who weren’t previously on the list. Despite the recent firing of head coach Neal Brown, the Mountaineers managed to attract defensive backs Dawayne Galloway and Julian Horton on signing day. This brings the total number of defensive backs in the class to four out of 21 signees, addressing a position of weakness for the team in the 2024 season.

Galloway, originally committed to Purdue, and Horton, originally committed to North Carolina, both decided to sign with WVU in a surprise move. The new signings have bolstered WVU’s recruiting class, currently ranked as the Big 12’s fifth-best by 247Sports. The class includes a mix of offensive and defensive positions, with a focus on replenishing the offensive line that saw four senior starters in the previous season.

Among the standout signees are defensive lineman Taylor Brown from Upper Marlboro, Maryland, and athlete Zah Jackson from Huntington High, who is considered the top prospect in West Virginia. Mentor, Ohio, quarterback Scotty Fox also joins the class as the sole quarterback signee. With these new additions, WVU looks to build a competitive roster for the upcoming seasons despite coaching changes. The Mountaineers are optimistic about the potential of their 2025 recruiting class and the impact these new players will have on the team.
