Manischewitz to support first Jewish BYU quarterback in program history

Brigham Young University quarterback Jake Retzlaff, the first Jewish quarterback in program history, has signed an NIL sponsorship with kosher food company Manischewitz. Retzlaff, known as “BYJew,” is one of three Jewish students at the Latter-day Saints university. As the starter, he has led the Cougars to a 10-2 record and No. 18 national ranking, throwing for 2,796 yards, 20 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. Manischewitz, founded in 1888, makes kosher products like matzo, macaroons, and wine. Retzlaff grew up with the brand and is excited to share his traditions at BYU.

In a viral video, Retzlaff does football drills with a box of matzo, and limited-edition Jake Retzlaff Matzo Boxes will be produced. He will also share his story and connection to Manischewitz on social media. Chief marketing officer Shani Seidman expressed pride in welcoming Retzlaff to the Manischewitz family, emphasizing the brand’s celebration of heritage and support for his football career. This partnership aims to raise awareness of Jewish food and excellence, while allowing Retzlaff to showcase his pride in his background. The collaboration between the quarterback and the kosher food company symbolizes the intersection of athletic achievement and cultural heritage, celebrating the unique connection between food, tradition, and sports.
