Injury Sidelines West Virginia Star Tucker Devries Indefinitely Due to Upper Body Issue

West Virginia basketball star Tucker DeVries will be out indefinitely due to an upper-body injury, as announced by the school on Tuesday. DeVries, who transferred to West Virginia from Drake, is averaging 14.9 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 2.8 assists this season. Coach Darian DeVries expressed confidence in the team’s ability to rally around Tucker during his absence.

The Mountaineers recently secured a 73-60 victory over Georgetown, improving their record to 6-2. Upcoming games include matchups against North Carolina Central and Bethune-Cookman before opening Big 12 play against Kansas on December 31.

DeVries, a two-time Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year, had a stellar season with Drake last year, averaging 21.6 points and helping lead the team to the NCAA Tournament. His father, also named DeVries, left his coaching position at Drake to join the West Virginia program as well.

Despite this setback, West Virginia remains focused on continuing their winning streak in DeVries’ absence. The team is determined to maintain their competitive edge as they move forward in the season. Fans are eagerly anticipating DeVries’ return to the court as the Mountaineers strive for success in conference play.
