Luigi Mangione’s whereabouts leading up to his arrest in shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO

The man accused of killing UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in Manhattan was seen near a Port Authority bus station shortly after the crime before eventually being arrested in Pennsylvania. The suspect, Luigi Mangione, was captured at a McDonald’s in Altoona, Pennsylvania, days after the shooting. Police believe he evaded capture for several days while traveling between Philadelphia and Pittsburgh.

Mangione was seen on CCTV footage arriving in New York City and wandering around the Hilton hotel area before checking into a hostel on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. On the day of the shooting, he was captured on video near the hotel, entering a Starbucks, and then entering Central Park. Thompson was shot in the back and then multiple times. Three pieces of ammunition with messages written on them were recovered at the scene. Mangione was last seen getting into a taxi near Central Park.

After his arrest, Mangione was charged with forgery, possession of a firearm without a license, tampering with records, and other offenses before being formally charged with Thompson’s murder. He has been denied bail and is fighting extradition to New York. The case has sparked intense interest and a combined reward of $60,000 is offered for information leading to the gunman’s conviction. Police are working to piece together Mangione’s movements between the shooting and his arrest, analyzing evidence from businesses and activities in Pennsylvania.
