Two Ukrainian women saved from debris just hours after attack by Russian missile

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has condemned a recent Russian missile strike on a private medical clinic in Zaporizhzhia, which killed six people and injured 22 others. Rescue crews worked tirelessly to save two women trapped beneath rubble for over seven hours. Zelenskyy reiterated his plea to Western allies for additional air defense systems to protect Ukraine from Russian attacks.

The attack on the medical clinic is another example of the deadly strikes on civilian areas that have occurred during the nearly three-year war. Zelenskyy emphasized the urgent need for more air defense systems, stating that allies have these systems that could save lives, instead of gathering dust in storage.

In response to Russian-held areas, Ukraine launched long-range strikes, including a drone attack in Russia’s Bryansk region and a missile strike in Russia’s Rostov region. Zelenskyy also expressed willingness to consider the deployment of Western troops in Ukraine in an effort to secure the country and end the war with Russia, aligning with Ukraine’s aspirations to join NATO and the European Union.

The President stressed the need for a clear timeline regarding Ukraine’s accession to both NATO and the EU before any deployment of Western troops. He continues to urge allies to provide the necessary support to protect Ukraine from further attacks and bring an end to the ongoing conflict.
