West Virginia University is in the process of reaffirming its accreditation through the Higher Learning Commission this year. The institution is following the standard pathway for reaccreditation, which includes comprehensive evaluations every four years. The self-study process involves reports from across the University system to demonstrate how WVU is meeting the HLC’s five evaluation criteria. Associate Provost Louis Slimak is leading efforts to compile the report and gather input from the WVU community.
Once the self-study is complete, there will be an open comment period for final feedback before the report is submitted to the HLC. During the HLC team’s visit to campus later in the spring semester, meetings will be held with the campus community to discuss specific topics related to the evaluation criteria.
Faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to participate in the accreditation process to show their pride in the institution. More information about WVU’s accreditation can be found on their website. The reaffirmation of accreditation is an important milestone for WVU as it continues to uphold high standards in higher education.
