Berkeley County man and recently elected Republican delegate, Joseph de Soto, was arrested on felony charges for making terroristic threats against government officials. De Soto, who switched parties to Democrat after being threatened with removal from his position by the Republican Caucus, was taken into custody following an investigation by the West Virginia State Police. The arrest came after de Soto allegedly made threats to kill several delegates, claiming he was commanded by God to do so. One of the delegates, Wayne Clark, had to evacuate his family from their home due to the threats. De Soto was held on a $300,000 cash bond and faces charges of terrorist acts.
The incident has sparked concerns about mental health issues and the need for support and intervention for individuals experiencing such challenges. The ongoing investigation aims to shed further light on the circumstances surrounding the threats and the involvement of de Soto. The arrest highlights the importance of addressing mental health issues in individuals and providing necessary support to prevent potential harm to others.
