Palestinians condemn Israel’s ‘barbaric’ attack on Nuseirat refugee camp in Gaza

At least 33 people, mostly from the al-Sheikh Ali family, were killed in an Israeli strike on the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza, according to Palestinian authorities. The attack, labeled a “barbaric and heinous massacre,” struck a residential area, hitting a postal office and nearby houses, sheltering displaced families. Photos showed children covered in dust and blood amidst the rubble. The one-year anniversary of the war marked 902 entire families wiped out by Israeli strikes. Israeli forces have targeted health facilities, journalists, and humanitarian workers, alleging Hamas ties. Since the war began in October 2023, over 44,800 Palestinians, mostly women and children, have been killed in Gaza. Airwars reported this campaign as the most intense and deadly conflict for civilians they have recorded. Experts believe the death toll is underestimated, with many more trapped under rubble. The attack on Nuseirat was part of a series of strikes across Gaza, including the killing of a top doctor in Jabalia refugee camp. Healthcare workers have faced significant casualties during the conflict, impacting the already-strained medical system in Gaza. The Israeli occupation is accused of trying to dismantle the health infrastructure and prevent the entry of essential medical supplies, labeled as a crime of genocide.
