After 17 years, Rich Rodriguez has returned as the head coach of the West Virginia Football program, marking his second stint with the team. However, his exit in 2007 came after a devastating loss to Pitt in the Backyard Brawl game, which ended their National Championship hopes.
Following his departure from West Virginia, Rodriguez went on to coach at Michigan and later Arizona, where he faced both success and controversy. After being fired from Arizona in 2018 due to sexual harassment allegations, Rodriguez took a hiatus before returning to coaching at Jacksonville State, achieving significant success.
Now back at West Virginia, Rodriguez aims to revitalize the program and lead them back to their former glory. With an upcoming rematch against Pitt in the Backyard Brawl, Rodriguez has the chance to rewrite history and start a new chapter for the Mountaineers.
