Penn State welcomes back Mountaineers for Sykes & Sabock Challenge


The West Virginia University track and field team is gearing up for the Sykes & Sabock Challenge in University Park, Pennsylvania on Feb. 8. The competition will feature a variety of events including the women’s 60-meter hurdles, 60-meter dash, mile, and more. The team had a successful outing at the Penn State National Open, with standout performances from graduate student Sarah Tait, classmate Madison Trippett, freshman Joy Naukot, and redshirt sophomore Olivia Cress. Tait became the second fastest Mountaineer in program history in the women’s mile, while Trippett and Naukot also achieved impressive times in the 1,000 meters and 3,000 meters respectively. Cress made her collegiate debut in the pentathlon and landed herself as fifth in the record book. The athletes will be looking to build on their success in the upcoming competition.
