West Virginia Secures Crucial Big 12 Road Victory by Beating Utah Valley

The No. 20 West Virginia University wrestling team ended a three-match losing streak by defeating Utah Valley 26-12 in Layton, Utah. This victory marked their first Big 12 win since January. The match started with redshirt sophomore Brody Conley winning against Mark Takara by decision. However, redshirt senior Dennis Robin lost to Caleb Uhlenhopp in overtime at 184 pounds.

The Mountaineers then went on to win three straight matches, putting them ahead by 10 heading into the 133-pound match. Despite a loss in that match, West Virginia secured the win with dominant performances by Jordan Titus and Sam Hillegas. Caleb Dowling and Peyton Hall also contributed wins, with Hall suffering his first loss of the season.

Looking ahead, West Virginia will square off against Wyoming on February 8th at the Uniwyo Sports Complex in Laramie. The team is aiming to continue their success and build on this important win. Supporters are encouraged to contribute to the Wrestling Sport Enhancement Fund to help provide for the needs of the student-athletes and coaches.
