Mountaineers fall short in away game against Baylor

The No. 18-ranked West Virginia University women’s basketball team suffered a 75-65 road loss to No. 25 Baylor on Tuesday night. The Mountaineers struggled offensively, shooting just 37% from the floor and forcing only 16 turnovers from Baylor. Despite a team-high 20 points from junior guard Jordan Harrison and 17 points from senior guard JJ Quinerly, West Virginia was unable to overcome Baylor’s strong performance.

Baylor took a 36-26 lead at halftime, hitting six 3-pointers compared to WVU’s 1-of-11 shooting from deep. Although West Virginia cut the deficit to single digits multiple times in the second half, they could not overtake Baylor. This loss brings West Virginia to a 1-2 record against AP-ranked opponents this season.

Next, the Mountaineers return home to face Cincinnati at the WVU Coliseum on Saturday, with tipoff set for 2 p.m. ET. This game will also serve as senior day for six West Virginia players. West Virginia looks to bounce back and secure a win in front of their home crowd.
