Mountaineers Fall to Baylor in Away Game

The No. 18-ranked West Virginia University women’s basketball team suffered a 75-65 loss on the road to No. 25 Baylor. The Mountaineers struggled offensively, shooting just 37% from the floor and forcing only 16 turnovers. Despite a team-high 20 points from junior guard Jordan Harrison, West Virginia couldn’t overcome Baylor’s lead. Senior guard JJ Quinerly added 17 points, while senior guard Kyah Watson grabbed nine rebounds.

After a back-and-forth first quarter, Baylor took a 36-26 lead at halftime, fueled by three-point shooting and turnovers. Although West Virginia narrowed the gap in the third and fourth quarters, they were unable to take the lead. The Mountaineers now have a 5-25 record against Baylor and a 1-2 record against AP ranked opponents this season.

West Virginia will return home to face Cincinnati at the WVU Coliseum on Saturday, where they will honor six seniors. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. ET. This loss to Baylor marks a setback in the Mountaineers’ season, but they will look to bounce back and secure a win on senior day against Cincinnati.
