WVU Running Back Jahiem White Ranked Among Top Returning Players by PFF
In a chaotic offseason filled with changes, one of the biggest moves for the WVU football program was retaining running back Jahiem White. Pro Football Focus (PFF) has now ranked White at No. 10 on their list of the best returning running backs in the country. Despite not having as many carries as others on the list, White has excelled in making the most of every opportunity. His impressive stats include a 35% forced missed tackle rate and a career average of 6.5 yards per carry since 2023.
White, a lightly recruited player out of York, Pa., has made a significant impact on the Mountaineers since joining the team. His speed and elusiveness have made him a valuable asset to the rushing attack, leading the team in rushing for the past two seasons. With quarterback Garrett Greene headed to the NFL and fellow tailback CJ Donaldson Jr. transferring to Ohio State, White is set to take on a bigger role for the Mountaineers in the upcoming season.
Despite speculation that White may leave via the transfer portal, he ultimately decided to stay at WVU, likely influenced by the retention of Chad Scott as the team’s running backs coach. With over 1,900 yards from scrimmage and 14 touchdowns in his career so far, White’s talents on the field have not gone unnoticed. As he prepares for his junior season, fans can expect to see even more impressive performances from this rising star.
