Austin Brinkman Receives Invitation to Specialist Showcase Following NFL Combine

West Virginia senior long snapper Austin Brinkman is set to attend the specialist showcase following the conclusion of the NFL Scouting Combine, as announced by the program. Brinkman, who was also invited to the Senior Bowl last month, is considered one of the top long snappers in college football this year.

This year marks the second consecutive year that long snappers did not receive invitations to the NFL Scouting Combine. However, the NFL has created the specialist showcase as a post-combine event in Indianapolis for kickers, punters, and long snappers to showcase their skills in front of NFL scouts. Only 10 long snappers have been drafted since 2001, and none have been selected since 2021.

Brinkman, along with fellow WVU seniors Wyatt Milum and Sean Martin, will be in attendance at the showcase. Milum, an offensive tackle, and Martin, a defensive lineman, were both invited to the scouting combine. Brinkman hopes to prove his potential as a draft pick or at least secure a spot as an undrafted signee.

“A lot of times West Virginia guys can get overlooked,” Brinkman said, emphasizing his desire to represent the university and state while showcasing his skills on a national stage. The NFL Scouting Combine is set to begin on Feb. 27 and will be televised on the NFL Network.

WVU football fans can also look forward to the 2025 Gold-Blue Spring Showcase, as announced by the program.
