Legendary Mountaineer Makes Triumphant Return to Coach at Alma Mater


West Virginia University Football Coach Rich Rodriguez has recently announced that former Mountaineer standout Pat White will be returning to his alma mater as the assistant quarterbacks coach/assistant to the head coach. White, who has previously served as an offensive assistant coach with the Los Angeles Chargers, will bring his experience and expertise to the quarterback room at WVU.

During his playing career, White was known for his versatility as a quarterback, setting numerous records at WVU and leading the Mountaineers to multiple bowl wins. After his playing days, White also had stints in professional football, playing for the Miami Dolphins, Washington Redskins, and the Edmonton Eskimos of the Canadian Football League.

Aside from his football career, White was also a standout baseball player, being drafted multiple times by MLB teams before ultimately pursuing a career in football. White, who is a member of the WVU Sports Hall of Fame, graduated from WVU in 2008 and now returns to his alma mater to contribute to the football program as a coach.

In his new role, White will bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to the coaching staff and will be working closely with the quarterbacks on the team. Rodriguez expressed his excitement in welcoming White back to Morgantown, highlighting White’s accomplishments both on and off the field. The addition of White to the coaching staff is sure to bring a new level of expertise and mentorship to the football program at West Virginia University.
