The West Virginia State Police has provided details regarding the tragic flood-related deaths of Donald Eugene Griffin, 69, and Deborah Griffin, 69, in McDowell County, West Virginia. The couple was found in the Tug River after their truck was swept away by high waters on Sunday, February 16. Witnesses reported that the Griffins’ two-year-old grandson was also in the truck and had been seen being taken from the vehicle by Donald. Sadly, the toddler was found deceased the following day, about ten miles away from the truck’s location. Two female juveniles were able to escape the vehicle after it was struck by trees and the back glass was damaged. The Griffins were the legal guardians of the children. The West Virginia State Police are continuing their investigation into the tragic incident.
