Zelenskyy responds to Trump’s remarks, asserting that Ukraine is not available for purchase

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy responded to accusations from Donald Trump that Ukraine started the war with Russia, stating that Trump is trapped in a “disinformation bubble” and denying that his country is for sale. Zelenskyy disputed Trump’s claim that his approval rating in Ukraine was only 4%, citing a poll showing that 57% of Ukrainians trust him. Zelenskyy emphasized the resilience of the Ukrainian army and the country’s determination not to make concessions to Russia.

Zelenskyy also criticized American demands for Ukraine to hand over $500 billion in minerals, calling it “not a serious conversation.” Trump had previously suggested that Ukraine could have avoided the conflict with Russia by making a deal. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov suggested that the Kremlin was pleased with the change in U.S. foreign policy under Trump, especially his comments about Ukraine’s relationship with NATO.

Trump’s remarks were seen as echoing criticisms from Russian President Vladimir Putin, who has questioned the legitimacy of Zelenskyy’s leadership. Zelenskyy has argued that it is not possible for Ukrainians to hold elections during wartime, a view supported by the country’s constitution. Despite these political developments, a Pew Research Center poll revealed that 47% of Americans approve of President Trump’s job performance to some extent.
