Rudy Giuliani settles defamation case brought by former Georgia election workers by satisfying judgment

Rudy Giuliani has satisfied a judgment against him for defaming two former Georgia election workers after falsely accusing them of election fraud in the aftermath of the 2020 presidential contest. The judgment was fully satisfied on Friday, following a settlement agreement reached with the two women, Ruby Freeman and Wandrea “Shaye” Moss. A jury had originally awarded the women $148 million in damages, later reduced to $146 million. Giuliani was found to have failed to comply with court orders surrounding the judgment, leading to additional fees. The former mayor of New York City admitted to making false statements about the women, who were election workers in Fulton County. The defamation led to death threats and harassment from Trump supporters, impacting their daily lives. Freeman and Moss expressed relief at the settlement and stated that the past four years had been a living nightmare as they fought to clear their names and reputations. Giuliani’s representative did not comment on the latest developments in the case.
