Trump pledges to search for minerals in Ukraine and praises Zelensky in latest Ukraine-Russia news.

President Donald Trump has denied ever calling Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky a dictator, despite previous claims. Trump has vowed to begin mining for minerals in Ukraine after signing a deal with Kyiv that will see the US and Ukraine jointly develop mineral resources in the country. The deal is seen as a way for the US to be reimbursed for the money spent on helping Ukraine defend itself. Trump praised Zelensky during a press conference with British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, saying they have a lot of respect for each other.

Sir Keir Starmer has expressed concerns that Russian President Vladimir Putin may breach a future peace agreement in Ukraine. He believes that any deal must be lasting and that there needs to be a sense from Putin that he can’t breach the agreement.

An economic framework agreement between the US and Ukraine has been completed, covering critical minerals, oil and gas, and infrastructure assets. The agreement will be signed by Zelensky and Trump during their meeting at the White House.
