The West Virginia University track and field team distance medley relay team achieved first place in the women’s distance medley relay at the Big 12 Indoor Track and Field Championships. The team, consisting of Sarah Tait, Carlene Temple, Kishay Rowe, and Ceili McCabe, set a conference championship meet record with a time of 11:09.42. This victory follows the team’s win at the 2023 Big 12 Indoor Championships and their gold medal performance. Redshirt sophomore Olivia Cress finished with a personal best in the women’s pentathlon, placing third all-time in program history. Freshman Joy Naukot claimed a silver medal in the 5,000 meters event, while redshirt junior Emily Bryce finished seventh overall. Graduate student Madison Trippett earned an automatic qualification to the 1,000-meter finals with a first-place finish in her heat. Sophomore Lily Haught achieved a personal best in the 400 meters with a time of 55.26 seconds. The Mountaineers will continue their competition at the Big 12 Indoor Championships, participating in various events on Saturday. The meet will begin at 11 a.m. ET and can be watched live on ESPN+.
