In a gruesome discovery in Mexico, the severed bodies of nine students who went missing during a vacation last month have been found. The bodies were found in an abandoned vehicle in San Jose Miahuatlan on the border of Puebla and Oaxaca, with four in the trunk and five under a blood-covered tarp. Alongside the bodies, a bag containing eight pairs of severed hands was also discovered, with two more hands found in the trunk. The victims, aged 19 to 30, showed signs of bullet wounds and torture.
Most of the victims have been identified, with the group mostly consisting of students from Tlaxcala who went missing on February 27 during a vacation to Oaxaca. A dark grey Volkswagen Vento with nearby license plates was found 150 miles southeast of Mexico City, matching surveillance footage from February 24 near the town of Atlixco.
While the suspects remain unnamed, the brutality of the killings suggests cartel involvement. Mexican authorities are working together in a widespread effort to bring the killers to justice, with the Attorney General’s Office in Puebla collaborating with law enforcement agencies in Tlaxcala and Oaxaca. As the investigation continues, the Mexican media reports that the identity of the ninth victim has yet to be determined.
