Trump Announces US Officials Sent to Russia for Ceasefire Talks, Hopes Putin Agrees

US President Donald Trump has discussed the next steps for Russian President Vladimir Putin after Ukraine accepted a 30-day ceasefire agreement. The ceasefire includes a restoration of US military aid and intelligence sharing to Ukraine, with officials from both countries coming to an agreement during talks in Saudi Arabia. However, sources in Moscow say Putin finds the agreement difficult to accept in its current form and will need to hash out the terms and obtain security guarantees.

In a press conference in Kyiv, Ukrainian President Zelensky emphasized that there is no trust in Russia, but stated support for the Trump administration’s push for peace and the resumption of military aid and intelligence sharing. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio indicated that discussions between the US and Russia on the agreement would be ongoing.

Meanwhile, Finland has confirmed its participation in any “coalition of the willing” to support Ukraine’s security, with Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen stating that Finland will contribute to securing Europe’s safety. European Parliament has also condemned the execution of Ukrainian prisoners of war by Russian forces and called for compliance with the Geneva Convention.

As the situation continues to evolve, with ongoing clashes and military advances, the international community is closely watching the developments and pushing for a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Ukraine.
