West Virginia University’s rifle team had a strong showing on the first day of the 2025 NCAA Rifle Championships, with senior Natalie Perrin and sophomore Griffin Lake both qualifying for the smallbore final. The team currently sits in third place with a smallbore team score of 2350, just five points behind first-place Alaska Fairbanks and one point behind second-place Kentucky.
Lake and Perrin’s performances were highlights of the day, with Lake finishing sixth and Perrin finishing eighth on the individual leaderboard. Lake scored a 420.3 in the final and hit a mark of 591 in qualifying, while Perrin scored 407.2 in the finals and achieved a career-high mark of 592 during the second relay.
The team’s overall performance was solid, with senior Gavin Barnick, sophomore Lauri Syrja, and freshman Ashlyn Blake also contributing to the team’s score. Defending champion TCU is currently in fourth place, followed by Ole Miss, Georgia Southern, Murray State, and Air Force.
