A Delta Air Lines flight had a close call with a U.S. Air Force jet near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. The Airbus A319, which was departing Reagan, had a reported incident with an Air Force T-38 jet often used for training. The aircraft were close enough for alarms to go off in the Airbus cockpit, triggering the Traffic Collision Avoidance System. Delta Flight 2983, bound for Minneapolis-St. Paul, had two pilots, three crew members, and 131 passengers on board. The flight crew followed procedures to maneuver the aircraft safely. No injuries were reported, and the flight arrived 10 minutes late at its destination. Delta stated that the safety of their customers and crew is a top priority, and they will cooperate with regulators in any review of the incident. The Air Force did not immediately respond to requests for comment. This incident follows a series of aircraft crashes and mishaps since the start of the year, including a collision between an American Eagle flight and an Army helicopter over the Potomac River, resulting in fatalities and restrictions on military flights in the area.
